Listen To Your Hunger Cues
Let me tell you something that tickles me because I've been there and many of you are there. See if this rings a bell...
Monday morning - 7 a.m.
"I'm going to lose this weight. I've got my menu done, my food prepped, and I just finished my fasted cardio and some good strength training ."
3 p.m.
"Damn I'm starving. I've ate my menu and I'm at 1000 calories for the day. What's wrong with me? I'll just wait it out."
8 p.m.
"Well, I ate dinner, my snack, and I'm hitting the ice cream hubby has out. I am just dying here."
Let me review something ALL OF US FAIL TO DO. We don't LISTEN to what our body. I repeat, we don't listen to our body.
At 3:00 our body was saying, "Hey, you worked out really hard this morning and I'm in need of some extra fuel. Can you put a little extra in the tank?" You see, at 3:00 p.m. it was asking nicely.
At 8:00 our body was saying, "Listen chump. I've about had it with you and your tough workouts. Now get your miserable butt in the kitchen and start eating and I don't give a damn what you put in here."
Do you see how the longer we go during the day the more "rude" our body is about getting what it needs?
Start thinking about giving your body the fuel it needs. We confuse too often overeating with "eating crap." There's a huge difference in having an extra can of tuna and an apple versus grubbing a candy bar and some ice cream at night.
I don't care if you eat all day when you eat clean. Go ahead and eat all the fruits and vegetables you want. Have a bonus salad filled with greens and 3 oz. of protein when you are hungry. Keep feeding your body. I know you won't get fat.
The problem is the person who routinely eats 1300 calories a day and then once very 3-4 days bumps up to 2200 calories of JUNK. This does nothing for fatloss. That's the same person who feels like they are always on a diet (they aren't) but are really just playing games with their body hoping for the best.
I'd much rather see girls workout hard and eat 1800 clean calories a day. I would bet my running shoes that 99% of my girls would lose all the fat they want on 1800 clean calories a day. The problem is getting them to marry the tough workouts with the clean food.
So, practice listening to your body. You should never feel as if you are "trying to use willpower" to make it to the next meal. If you are, you are either eating crappy foods all day that leave you unsatisfied or you simply just need to grab an apple.
You posted something about this on the forum. I am holding you to your word. Yep, listening to my body and eating when I am hungry - clean food.
